  • Upgrade To Exchange 2010

    Hello

I just looking in put a plan together to update our exchange server 2003 to Exchange standard 2010. Is this a straight upgrade or do I need to upgrade to exchange 2007 standard then to 2010. This is running on a windows server 2003 server.

Could I installed windows server 2008r2 then install exchange 2010 standard then restore the exchange database from backup?

    Re: Upgrade To Exchange 2010

You can upgrade your exchange environment from (IIRC) 2K3 SP2 -- note 2010 will have to be on a different server.
If you are using OWA you will have to set up a "legacy" portal to 2003 as well as the new one to 2010

db structure has changed a lot so you will have to move mailboxes from old to new servers -- no restore option possible

This link probably covers the process fairly well:
