  • The ports which to communicate between outlook client and exchange server 2003

    dear all,
my system has configuration as follow:
    parent domain: dctest.net . host name: root01.dctest.net
    child domain 1: child1.dctest.net ,host name: srv01.child1.dctest.net
    child domain 2: child2.dctest.net , host name: srv02.child2.dctest.net

we deploy exchange server 2003 ( host name: exch.child2.dctest.net) on the child domain 2: child2.dctest.net, and it issues email account for all domain users in forest.

when a domain user A on the child1.dctest.net, logon to machine desktop ( joined into child1.dctest.net) and use outlook client that is configured to connect to exchange.

    i have questions:
how did outlook client connected to exchange server ? and how to it authenticated?

can anyone explain this issue for me?

    thanks

There is a lot of information on -- Outlook uses MAPI to connect to Exchange, maybe over RPC/HTTPS
    Authentication is handled by AD
