  • Load Sim Failure

I am running LoadSim (version 06.05.7618 ) on an XP SP2 against a Exchange 2003 SP1. Outlook 2003 is installed on both LoadSim test machines.

This is an AD 2003 domain. There is a child domain, but I am working in is the parent domain. A child domain also contains an Exchange Server, DCs and GCs for that child domain. The first Exchange Server for the Organization was installed in the child domain.

I have two LoadSim boxes (Master/Client) configured to run against two Exchange Servers (EX 1 and EX 2).

LoadSim Master is configured to run against EX1
LoadSim Client is configured to run against EX2

The Topology task completes successfully. The LoadSim Users OU is created with EX1 and EX2 OU below holding the correct amount of users in each. The Distribution Lists are created properly (contain users from both EX1 and EX2).

I am using remote control from LoadSim Master to control LoadSim Client. LoadSim client successfully loads the shared .sim file.

When I attempt to initialize the test, I get the following errors:

profile name (EX-23); ERROR: Open store "Public Folders" MAPI_E_FAILONEPROVIDER (0x8004011d) (The Microsoft Exchange Server computer is not available. Either there are networkd problems or the Microsoft Exchange Server computer is down for maintenance.)

profile name (EX-23); ERROR Logon failed: Error:MAPI_E_FAILONEPROVIDER [0x8004011d]

    The run then stops.

btw.. Installation of Outlook on Exchange server doesnt supported.

      Re: Load Sim Failure

Yep, I ran Forest Prep and then Domain Prep. I ran Domain Prep in both child and parent domains (both FP/DP were run from the Exchange 2003 CD)

Outlook is not installed on any of the Exchange servers. I have Outlook 2003 installed on separate XP SP2 workstations.

I can run the LoadSim no problem in the child domain, it is when LoadSim is initiated in the parent domain it fails. Could LoadSim be failing b/c it is trying to access the public folder on the Exchange server in the child domain? There is a router between the two locations.

Please try to open MAPI ports:

From the Exchange/XP. I guess the MAPI connection fail.

          Re: Load Sim Failure

I open ports on the router between sites (LAN) and resolved some of the LoadSim errors. Thanks.

I identified another reason for the failure. On only one of the Exchange servers, the offline address book does not have entries for OAB Version 2 or OAB Version 3a. When I go to ESM > Organization > First Admin Group > Folders > Public Folders > View System Folders > OFFLINE ADDRESS BOOK, OAB Version 2 & OAB Version 3a are missing.

The Exchange Servers have full access to each other; no ports are being blocked by a router.

I tried rebuilding the Offline Address List
I tried "Send Hierarch..." but that did not populate these values.

Try to install SP2 on the servers + verity that the PRC + SMTP ports open between the servers.

              Re: Load Sim Failure

              Verified ports are open.

Cannot install SP2 b/c 3rd party clustering software does not support SP2 yet.
