  • Block .ZIP and .EXE attachment

    Hello,
    Is there a feature in Exchange or Outlook 2003 to block .ZIP and .EXE file attachments ? I know the thrid party spam blockers can do it but i am trying to save some $$$.

    Depends on what level of blocking you want.

      Are you trying to blacklist EVERY .exe or .zip?

      Exchange should have an option to deny file types. or Remove said attachment if not from said safe sender.

        Are you not running Exchange aware antivirus? That is what is designed to do this kind of job. They can scan the file and actually remove attachments where users have renamed them. If you simply block based on the extension users will soon get wise to that and will just rename the attachment.
