  • Can't Mount MailStore

    Hi

I have been having problems with Auto Accept Agent which is not Accepting meeting requestes automatically anymore. After spend way too much time trying to resolve the AAA problem we have deceide to build a new exchange server and move all the mailboxes over then add the AAA back on again.

I have build a new Server 2003 SP2 R2 Enterprise Edition then installed all the available updates, then I installed Exchange 2003 and SP2.

Everything looks peachy untill I try to mount the mail store.

I get following error : "The store could not be mounted because the Active Directory information was not replicated yet. You can either - Press Canel and mount the store later from its context menu or, press retry to let the Exchange System Manager keep trying to mount the store for you."

Event log shows the following :

    Re: Can't Mount MailStore

You need to explain what you have done a little more, as I work on the basis that an Exchange server should operate correctly immediately. If it doesn't then something is wrong with the build.

Is this a new server with the old one still operating?
Have you tried to move the store in any way, bring it from an old server?
Has the server name been used for anything else before?

Did the mailbox database mount immediately after installation of Exchange? It should do unless you have some active directory issues.

      Re: Can't Mount MailStore

      Hi

The server is a new newly build Windows Server 2003 SP2 Enterprise Edition with a newly installed Exchange server 2003 SP2 Enterprise. All the updates are installed and the server have not been used for anything else.

Directly after the exchange installation I tried to mount the First Mailbox Store but it fails. I noticed that the Priv1.edb is not created but the public folder database is created.

I tried creating a secondary mailbox store and mount it but it does not mount either. I read on some forums that this could be caused if there's duplicate SystemMailboxes, I checked and can only fine 2 SystemMailboxes not duplicates.

I have four exchange server in the domain the new one I need is to replace one the other boxes which is still online as I need to move the user mailboxes from the old box to the new box.

This might be sound alots of work, but have you tried to create a brandnew database and setup users mailbox then import the pst from backup to those mailbox?

        Thanks,

          Re: Can't Mount MailStore

Well the reason I am building a new server is to get my AAA working again.

Will creating a new mail store on my old server fix this ?

            Re: Can't Mount MailStore

It wasn't so much the server itself being used, but the server name.
However a brand new build should mount its databases immediately after installation. Unless there is something glaringly obvious in the event viewer as to why, I would declare it a bad build, remove Exchange using add/remove programs and then rebuild the box.

              Re: Can't Mount MailStore

              Hi

That was my though at the begining, I then removed Exchange and destroyed the VM. After that I build a new VM and installed Server 2003 SP 2 and Exchange 2003.

              Still get the same error.

              Regards

                Re: Can't Mount MailStore

That would tend to indicate a more significant problem. Could be the way that you are setting up the server, an issue with the domain, the account permissions, something like that. Very unusual for a problem like that to continue across a system rebuild.

                  Re: Can't Mount MailStore

The setup is very standard, I have not even made any configuration changes to Server 2003 or Exchange, only what’s necessary for the exchange installation to complete.

I noticed now that if I create a new storage group on my existing mail server and try to mount the mail store I get the same error, so the problem is not with my server but with my domain or forest, any ideas ?

Run the best practises analyser, which is a free download from Microsoft. I have a link on my Exchange resources site at http://exbpa.com/

That might flat some permissions errors.

                      Re: Can't Mount MailStore

                      Hi Guys
I have Finally got the mail store to mount. I noticed that I was not able to mount any new mail store on the domain.

                      • On the new exchange server I extracted the Exchange 2003 SP2 files.
                      • I then ran Upgrade.com /domainPrep and Upgrade.com /forestPrep
                      • Then I restarted the server and the mail stores mounted and the Priv1.ebd files created.

So that solved one part of my problem, next to get the AAA working again for my resource mailboxes I installed Auto Accept Agent on the new server. I tried moving my resource mailbox over to the new server and see if the AAA will work but no such luck.
I have to now export all the data from the current resource mailboxes, recreate the mailbox on the new server and then import the data back to the resource mailbox. Once all the resource mailboxes have been moved and the data imported, I have to register the resource mailboxes on the new server for AAA and then rebuild the GAL and OAB so all the user will see the new mailboxes.
This has been one of the most annoying problems I've ever had, and all because of the Auto Accept Agent. I really hope this problem is solved or easier to solve with Exchange 2010.
Thanks for all the help guys.
                      Regards
