  • MAPISP32.exe file is missing - Exchange 2003 SP2 / SBS 2003 R2

    Hey Guys and Girls,

I was receiving numerous Event ID 8026: LDAP Bind was unsuccessful on directory <directory> for distinguished name ''. Directory returned error: [<error code>] <error details>. on my SBS 2003 R2 server. At one point there were thousands.

In trying to find the source of the issue i ran the Exchange BPA and have the following critical error:

    MAPISP32.exe file is missing

I tried to follow the instructions and redownloaded SP2 for Exchange, and tried to run it. However, when i try to go through the reinstallation, and assign "update" in the wizard, i get the following error message:

The component "Microsoft Exchange Messaging and Collaboration Services" cannot be assigned the action "Update" because:

Service Pack 2 for Exchange Server 2003 includes an updated version of the Microsoft Exchange Intelligent Message Filter. An earlier version of the Exchange Intelligent Message Filter has been detected on this system and this earlier version must be uninstalled before applying Service Pack 2.

What should i do now? Im guessing it wants me to uninstall IMF, but i dont know which version i need to uninstall and how i would do it.

Any help would be greatly appreciated

    Cheers

There is only one version of IMF that can be uninstalled.
Thousands of hits on Google on how to do that.

      Very odd.

I followed the instructions to uninstall IMF v2 (here) and then reinstalled Exchange 2003 SP2. It completed sucessfully. I then re-ran the Exchange BPA and still got the same MAPISP32.exe file is missing critical error.

      Any ideas?

Any ideas? Does anyone actually know where MAPISP32.exe is meant to be located so i could check its presence manually / copy one over?
