  • Sent on behalf of not showing.

    Hello.
When a user sends an e-mail on behalf of the company director, it shows as coming from him and not from his PA.
I would like to find out how to make this e-mail say 'Sent on behalf of'

In outlook 2003, user has delegate access as editor, and editor on folder permissions on inbox, also user has 'send as' permission in AD,
    exchange server is 2007

Everything is really working fine, but havent figured out how to get the directors emails to say sent on behalf of on the emails.

this happens when mails are sent to all, internal/external.

    any ideas? thanks.

Thats because you have granted "Send as" rights. Remove this. Once done either apply the send on behalf as permission via delegates or the user in question from EMC on the delivery tab.

Also be aware that you can only guarantee the behaviour internally. Once the email goes outside Exchange you cannot be sure if the "on behalf of" will appear.

        thanks for the reply both

apply the send on behalf as permission via delegates

where is this option in outlook 2003, or is it something i have to do via the management console?
        thanks in advance.

When you apply permissions from delegates the "send on behalf" permission is added. Note this MUST be done from delegates which is not the same as applying the permissions from the "permissions" tab on a mailbox/mailbox folder. Failing that as i already said you can do the same from the management console: recipient config > mailbox > users mailbox > properties > mail flow settings > delivery options

Re: Sent on behalf of not showing.

            Hi,
ive gone to EMC, recipent configuration>mailbox>users mailbox> manage send as permission
from here i have removed the PA from the MD's send as permissions, ive tested and its still showing as coming directly from the MD.
Is there a time to wait before this is updated on the exchange server?
            thanks/

Re: Sent on behalf of not showing.

Permission changes take up to 2 hours before they are full effective due to the way that Exchange caches permissions.
