  • Exchange 2003 NDR 4.4.2 when e-mail is sent from hand held device

    Hello,

I have very strange issue with exchange 2003SP2 legacy mail server.. Users who use hand held device (IPhone, Blackberry) to send e-mail from public e-mail services (yahoo, gmail) gets a rejection notification usually 1 or 2 days after the message has been sent.
For example , hand held users sending e-mails to [email protected] , usually get the following error..
    <[email protected]>:
Connected to xx.xx.xx.xxx but connection died. Possible duplicate! (#4.4.2)
I'm not going to try again; this message has been in the queue too long.
Regular e-mails from both domain gets delivered without issue..

    Any thoughts will be appreciated.

That is not an Exchange message, so is being rejected further on.
Do you route your email through a smart host or something else in front of Exchange? If the NDR is identical no matter who the recipient is, then it would tend to point to something else rejecting the message.
