    Re: GAL not updating

How long have you given it?
IIRC the OAB is updated once a day and Outlook downloads it once a day, so up to 48 hours must pass before you can be sure clients have the latest version

      Re: GAL not updating

I updated contacts etc from AD 5 days back.
My Default Offline Address book on exchange updates at 5:00 am every day.

Some months ago we did and it replicated changes very soon. This time dont no why its not updating contacts designation etc in Outlook clients.

        Re: GAL not updating

The GAL is not the OAB. You need to be sure what is not updating.
GAL is the live data which can be seen in OWA. Check through that, or Outlook which is NOT in cached mode to see if the changes are there.
If the changes are in the live information, then the problem is purely with the OAB generation process.

Ensure that the domain controller and the Exchange server listed for OAB and recipient policy is valid. After forcing the OAB to regenerate, check the event log for errors. Ensure that the public and system folders are mounted.

I'm sure Simon knows this but I'll post it just in case the OP doesn't.

You can force Outlook to download the GAL even if its in cached mode. If it's in cached mode it only updates once per day.

          Click "Tools"->"Send/Receive"->"Download Address Book"
uncheck "Download changes since last send/receive"
check "Full Details" check "Global Address List" Click OK.

The OAB is built twice a day by default. There is a schedule that you can alter to make it build more frequently.

If you locate your OST file on your hdd you can delete the extra OST files (not the primary look in your Outlook settings for the mailbox file name). This will force a clean download of the OAB when you do a manual send/receive.

            Re: GAL not updating

The OAB is only built once a day by default, not twice. 5am is the default time.
It is usually recommended to change it to twice a day, I usually do 5am and 2pm.

To force a complete download of the OAB you delete the *.oab files from the profile, with Outlook closed. It could be that the incremental updates aren't working but a full update is.
