  • IMAP4 Port 993 problem

I have two front end servers that I am trying to get IMAP4 port 993 to listen on. For some reason I cannot get the port to listen for that traffic. I tried installing certificates on my servers <Win 2003> and that did not fix my problem... Any advice would be welcomed.......

IMAP4 listens on port 143. You're trying to secure that traffic. IMAP4 over SSL uses TCP port 993. Before an Exchange 2000/2003 server supports IMAP4 (or any other protocol) over SSL, you must install a Computer certificate on the Exchange 2000/2003 server. After you do that you'll get the option to encrypt the IMAP4 traffic. When you do that, you will in fact cause it to use the required 993 port.
