  • Cheap exchange antivirus/spam?

Can someone recommend a cheap but effective anti-virus and anti-spam for exchange?

I've been looking into the big boys, symantec and mcafee, and ~$30 per user per year is too much.

If you will buy license for a few years the price should be drop.
Also, try to use Antigen or Trend for Exchange. Dont think to use
Symantec on the Exchange if you like to get a good sleep at night

Check out GFI MailSecurity. Version 9 was recently released, it now uses multiple virus scanning engines (4 I believe) and isn't too expensive ($350 for 25 users = $14/user, $999 for 100 users = $9.99/user). Scans for viruses, trojans, and exploit type messages.

As a rule of thumb i always install a different AV scanner on my exchange box than on my clients and other servers.

On clients and servers i would use Sophos.

On Exchange servers i use CA ETrust scanner.

I've never had a problem on any of my machines.

Please remember that you AV scanner is only as good as the last update that it received.

Antigen is good for use... personally i like mcafee more.. In my oppinion it catches more virusses etc then norton (which i don't like) also Trend Micro isn't my kind of choise.. there later which the definition updates then mcafee..

with a customer of my, he's running a Trend Micro gateway scanner and Mcafee on all the servers and clients. Mcafee catch more frequenly the new virusses then Trend..

ETrust is also a nice choice i think..

                Thx dumber,
but I got a good deal with Trend for all my servers includind the EXCHANGE.
And now I'm wondering if it's not a better idea to buy antigen\sybari for the Exchange. (Microsoft bought them ).

Is there anyone here used the Sybari\Antigen or Trend on the Exchange ?

                thx ahead
