  • How to renew SSL cert in Exchange 2003?

    Hello,

I am trying to renew SSL certificate on my exchange 2003 STD server. I did generate a certreq.txt on c:/ drive. But where can I locate http://certserver/certsrv ???

Exiting SSL cert in my server has been expired just now.

    Any help?

    Thanks,
    Amey.

This website is representing your Certificate Authority, hopefully you have one.

Probably you can look up what CA provided your current certificate and conntact this one.

Thanks for quick reply. It's a in built certificate. I am not sure how I can renew inbuilt SSL cert. Previous admin done installation of new SSL certificate [ he issued in built SSL certificate ] 3 years back when they did installation.

If the CA that issued the original cert doesn't exists anymore, then you'll need to remove the cert and issue a new request and submit it to a commercial CA.

@ joe > How can I find if original CA exists? As per my knowledge it's not possible to generate/renew inbuilt SSL certificate but I am not too sure that why in puzzle.

Last option is to buy 3rd party SSL certificate.

Read SemBee's article on 3rd Party Certificates. You may be pleasantly surprised. http://www.amset.info/

Alternately, find the CA Server in your network and create a new Certificate.

Self generated certificates aren't worth the hassle when you can spend $30 and get a commercial certificate.

See my rant against self generated certificates here: http://blog.sembee.co.uk/archive/2006/03/05/9.aspx
