  • Remove a dead Exchange 2000 server with Exchange 2003 from AD

I have a dead Exchange 2003 server on my network that was installed on a 2000 server. I have tried the solution of right clicking on the server in the ESM and deleting it, but it just lock the server workstation when I right-click on the dead server.

Does anyone have another way of doing this?

    Thanks in advance.

The hang is normal. That is because the network is trying to contact the server. Eventually it will catch up and allow you to delete it.
The other method is the DR method - this is where you build a machine with the same name (a VM will be fine), join to the domain, install Exchange using the DR switch. Once complete, remove it correctly using add/remove programs.
