  • Using a seperate SMTP server for outgoing mail

We had to open our exchange server up as an open-relay for a couple days but in that time we were scanned and added to a couple of blacklists. We have a backup mail server that's set as our tertiary mx record and I was curious if there was a way for us to setup our exchange server to use the SMTP server in our backup communigate mail server for outgoing email? I tried digging around the website/forums for it and I couldnt find anything so I apologize if this is a dupe.

Use an SMTP connector and setup the Smart Host as your "backup server". Note this will only work if your backup server connects to the net using a diffrent public IP. It's the IP that get's banned not the actual server.

    topper.
