  • Exchange 2003 GAL does show on new users p.c

    Hi
    I've just opened 3 users in my domain ( sbs 2003 sp2 with exch 2003 sp2)
When I go to old user's accounts and open outlook I can see the new users but when I log on with the new users account and go to contacts I get an empty box.
They can send and receive mail but have no contacts, it seems that the gal is not reaching them.
when they press "to" they have no contacts and they can't get the gal option on the drop down menu at the top of the select name box.
    Any ideas?

outlook > tools > send/receive > download address book > download full address book (or similar)

when you configure their account, does it resolve their name correctly ?

here you go: this is where you should find it.
note this image came from Outlook 2007.
Pls check your outlook version.. ?

Also - go through the user profile and ensure they ARE in fact using Exchange
I've just created a new profile for myself using a pop3 connection instead of exchange, and i'm seeing what you're describing.

So that'd be my next step..

When you close and reopen Outlook it will download the current version of the GAL to the .OST from Exchange (assuming your using cached exchange mode which is the default). And just for your info Outlook 2003 does have the same option as 2007 to download the GAL.

The GAL isn't stored in the OST file. It is seperate, in an OAB file.
