  • Exchange users Display Name

    Hi all,

    Exchange 2003, Outlook 2000

I have a user who wants her display name to be something other than what it is. Basically, when she sends a message to someone, the name that the recipient sees is her full name. She'd rather they just see her first name. Is there a way to edit her profile to change the name that people see? I havent had any luck on this one.

    Thanks in advance,

    Jeremy

Yeah, I tried that with no luck. I'm thinking there has to be a way. I don't want to have to re-create the account.

Thanks for the reply. Please let me know if you have any other suggestions.

          Re: Exchange users Display Name

I was able to have her name appear properly in the Global Address List, which I think is what that tool corrects, the format of the GAL. Its strange that the GAL has it correct, but it still shows up as the full name when sending messages.

          Thanks so much for trying!

If I understand you correctly, your user wants only her first name to be viewable on emails that she sends. If this is the case, create an email alias using her first name and then Set As Primary that alias.

AD Properties - click to view image.

Check in System Manager for the user Mailbox name. Mailbox name should be the same as Display Name. If system manager shows FirstName LastName, stop and restart Information Store service.
