  • Exchange 2003 replication

Thru poor planning by the previous IT Director of our exchange 2003 environment i am now burdened with the task of relocating the exchange database onto a server with more hard drive space. the current server exchange is located on is completely filled up. although i have made a little room so users can recieve and send e-mail, i think best practice is for me to move it somewhere it can grow! dont you agree? so i already have the other server ready, it has exchange 2003 on it, it is ready to recieve on appropiate protcols but now i just need to replicate the current exchange database onto the prepared server. any ideas? or am i going about this the wrong way? any help is appreciated.

    Re: Exchange 2003 replication

You can't replicate the databases to a new server. You will need to move the mailboxes.
That will generate a high number of logs.

There is a special procedure for removing the first server as well.

    See my migration guide here:

have you considered something like mandatory archival periods, or mailbox limits to help you in the mean time ?
