OMA connection error: Event 3005 Source ActiveSync Exchange on SBS 2003

    Hello all
    This one is driving me crazy..
    On SBS 2003 a situation developed where all mobile devices are connecting but no longer sychronising with Exchange. The error as follows:

    System:
    SBS 2003 R2 Standard
    with Exchange 2003 SP2
    Sharepoint Servrces 3.0

    This is the only error I have. Everything else is tip-top, no Yellows or Reds in the System or Applications event viewer

    I ran the MSExchange online Active Sync test and recieved the folllowing results: (Note I have removed the IP address to preserve client privilage)

    A Web Exception occurred because an HTTP 401 - Unauthorized response was received from Unknown

    I have deleted and re-installed virual directories; checked permissions about a thouasand times and still no cigar. I suspect its a typical case of missing something. Any help would be very much appreciated. Can anyone point me in the direction of an A-Z checklist for troubleshooting such a generic error? I offer large amounts of love to anyone who can offer help

    As this is SBS, have you run the Connect to the Internet and Configure Email wizard and ensured that is has completed successfully?

        Reading the post again - it appears that you are using an IP address for the SSL certificate. That isn't a valid choice. An SSL certificate should not be issued to an IP address, they are usually issued to host names only.

        The wizard completed with no errors at all?

        Is this SBS 2003 or SBS 2003 R2?
