  • Message rejected when emailing me from me

    Exchange 2003

We have client that sends us an email when we do something on their website. The email is to us, from us.....from [email protected] to [email protected]. It looks like they are using javamail to send the email to their mail environment and then routing it out to us. Our problem is that we get an NDR from their email server stating:

Your message did not reach some or all of the intended recipients.
    Subject: subject
    Sent: 9/25/2009 6:59 PM
The following recipient(s) could not be reached:
    ******on 9/25/2009 6:59 PM
The message reached the recipient's e-mail system, but delivery was refused. Attempt to resend the message. If it still fails, contact your system administrator.
    < server.domain.com #5.2.0 SMTP; 550 5.7.1 Message rejected.>

Any idea why it fails? We have another Exchange 2003 environment that does not have the problem and we can not tell what is different.
    Thank you,

    Marc

    Anti spoofing.
Could be AV or Antispam. If you have SPF record lookups enabled for example. You might have your own domain listed in the blocked senders for list as well.

The real problem is the remote site spoofing your email domain. That needs to be stamped out because it stops antispoofing technologies being used.

You were right. It was an anti-spam program on the server. Reputation points awarded.
