  • Recipient policy not reporting correctly

    Hello everyone,
    Another wall with E2K3 and perhaps some of the veterans here can answer.
    I ran a recipient policy to do some archiving and maintenance but just can not believe that results are accurate.

    Here are the findings:
    Our Exchange server is taking a 107GB of data. 1 storage group with 2 stores. Mainly mxb older than few yrs with a couple of them just a few months old.

    Email older than 07
    Mailboxes processed: 50
    Messages that would be moved or deleted: 104223
    Size of messages that would be moved or deleted: 5494.83 MB = 5.4GB
    ---------------------------------------------------->
    Email Older than 08
    Mailboxes processed: 50
    Messages that would be moved or deleted: 548759
    Size of messages that would be moved or deleted: 34017.21 MB = 34.GB
    ---------------------------------------------------->
    Email Older than 182 days
    Mailboxes processed: 51
    Messages that would be moved or deleted: 867416
    Size of messages that would be moved or deleted: 54492.24 MB = 54.4GB
    ---------------------------------------------------->
    Email Older than 60 days
    Mailboxes processed: 51
    Messages that would be moved or deleted: 1140257
    Size of messages that would be moved or deleted: 74640.39 MB = 74GB
    ---------------------------------------------------->

    So looking at the whole picture 107GB - 74GB (older than 60 days) = 33GB in LAST 60 days. Avg 660 MB per user in 60 days I just don't believe this to be the case.
    So, is it possible that Recipient policy is not working correctly or I am just nor reading it right?

    Thanks for your thoughts!

    Re: Recipient policy not reporting correctly

    The report is for content that hasn't been touched. Therefore it is perfectly possible for older content to not be removed.
