  • Barracuda Changes Outbound Email From Line

    Exchange 2003 environment
    All mail goes out one of three Barracuda spam firewalls.

    I have seen this numerous times from other users, but this was the first time I actually saw it with one of my e-mails.

    Using Outlook I sent a message to a user I send messages to often. When they receive my e-mail, the from line has the following:

    [email protected] [mailto:[email protected]] On Behalf Of Wonka, Willie

    (changed name and company, in case anyone was wondering)

    Any ideas what could be causing this or where to even start looking for a problem?

    Assuming you have support with Barracuda contact them.

      I didn't actually put that title in for this post (someone else put that in). The From line on the receivers side is showing that address, not the subject.

      This is just for a few receivers and everything else works perfectly fine, was just more looking for some ideas. I can try contacting BC to see what they offere up.

      I appreciate the title being changed, but would be nice if it was also commented that the title had been changed.

        That can only be done by something 3rd party in transit. Speak to Barracuda first.

          I changed the subject line and I will change it again. The previous one was complete garbage.

          A more appropriate subject title would have been better for everyone involved.

            Thanks Simon,

            Unfortunately your new title was also garbage.

            Changing it to something more appropriate would have been better for everyone involved.

            Also as you can see the responses and ideas are just flowing in.


            I have checked on the Barracuda and when the traffic leaves the BC, it is correct. Anyone have any ideas what on the user end could be pulling it up this way?

              Are you telling me that you considered "btv1==47718888f688==" to be a good title?

              If you do then I suggest that you go and read the post at the top of every forum, particualrly the bit about good subject lines. Daniel has made it quite clear he wants quality titles, and the fact that your post was reported to moderators for adjustment is an indication that others considered it poor as well.

              I changed it to the wrong thing, which I have now corrected. I only skim read the question because I know zip about the Barracuda device.
