  • OMA - A System error has occurred while processing your request

When I try to access OMA I'm getting the following error message:

"A System error has occurred while processing your request. Please try again. If the problem persists, contact your administrator."

    I've looked at this article:
    http://support.microsoft.com/kb/898131
But it already appears to be setup like this.

I'm afraid I don't have much experience with IIS, so any assistance would be greatly appreciated.

    Thanks.
I've been using this online backup for all my photos, docs, spreadsheets, powerpoints & emails for years now & it works great.

could you tell me where you are seeing that error ?

do you have any other sites or instances configured within IIS, or is it just the Exchange virtual directories ?

The error message is coming up in Internet Explorer. I just connected locally https://servername/oma.

I've attached a screenshot of the IIS Structure.

        Thats SBS R2.

Just out of interest "why" are you trying to access OMA (presumably from a PC) when its designed for mobile phones - basic WAP/HTTP browser?

Addtionally that print screen doesnt really tell you too much. Have you tried to browse it in IIS under the /OMA virtual directory as you should be prompted for login credentials.

          Yes, running SBS 2003 R2.

I'm browsing from a local workstation while getting it to work.

I get the same error when browsing from IIS (see attached image). In both cases (IE on workstation and IIS browse) I am prompted for the username/password and am then given the error.

This is not related to troubleshooting.

Why to use OMA, why dont you go for activesync. OMA is a dead feature now. That's why you will not see OMA anymore in Exchange 2007 or exchange 2010,

OMA has been dropped in 2007 because it was too easy to break. That being said it does have its places for mobile devices not using active sync. What the OP hasnt told us is "why" he is trying to browse OMA from a workstation.

Re: OMA - A System error has occurred while processing your request

I thought I explained that.. I'm using it from a workstation purely for testing. It is much faster and cheaper to do it from a local workstation, plus it eliminates any firewall complications by doing it locally. OMA can work from a workstation, you don't have to run it from a mobile.

I'm wanting to setup OMA as a quick fix before I try to figure out how to sync the phones over a data connection. One step at a time, and OMA seemed a lot simpler.

I had a look at http://support.microsoft.com/kb/898131, I've attached a screenshot of what we currently have for your comments. Should I just edit the existing entries to add a header value to each? Or are they ok as is?

Re: OMA - A System error has occurred while processing your request

I have a comment or two:

                      1. Get rid of the localhost address (127.0.0.1) in the Advanced Web Site Identification properties page as localhost is not needed.

                      2. You have not added a NETBIOS name host header to the Default Web Site as specified in the KB article you refenced in your first post (http://support.microsoft.com/kb/898131). Try adding the host header for the NETBIOS name and see if it works. Don't edit the current ip address/port mapping, create a new one and add the host header to that.
