  • OWA Password change error (when acct expired)

    For most password changes, user's can go in and change it themselves... but if their password is expired... they attempt to change their password.. and it sends them to a page with:

    Error number: -2147022675

    I've do quote a bit of research on this, and can't get the answer.
    I'm using Windows Server 2003 Standard with SP2, IIS 6, and Exchange v6.5 SP2

    Maybe i need to get a new copy of iispwchg.dll ?
    I've done the register .dll a few times, and stopped/started the service.
    This has been going on for months.. maybe it's always been like this.

    I dunno. I'm pretty lost.

    If a user's account is expired, they cannot reset their password.. it needs to be re-enabled by the administrators.

    at least, that's my take.
    It makes perfect sense that if an account is expired (as opposed to a password being expired) the user can't reset the password, as the account is for all intents and purposes, locked out.

      i know you can't change passwords on a locked out account.
      i'm talking passwords here. a user's password is expired.

          On reflection, I suspect your problem may be the Exchange 6.5 element of your post, did this ever work?

            What do you mean by "Exchange 6.5 element of your post" ??
            I'm still not having any luck with this.
            I don't even know how to start over... or where i'd get a new iisadmpwd.dll file.

                When you are changing / testing this are you sure you are entering the credentials in the correct manner?

                I.E. Domain\UserName or in the [email protected]

                for example

                <yourdomain>\<anyuser>
                <anyuser>@<yourdomain>

                    I'm still dealing with this issue. grrr.. but i noticed something.

                    I don't have any .htr files in my iisadmpwd folder
                    I just have .asp ones.

                    How should I correct this?
                    Uninstall, and reinstall iisadmpwd?
                    How can I get the .htr files?

                    Thanks!!

                      Nevermind, htr files look to be from an older version of IIS.
                      asp is the correct file types.

                        Re: OWA Password change error (when acct expired)

                        I got this issue fixed by going back to my "original install" version of the asp files.
                        Then, i tested each one of them and found that some of them wanted me to use "domain\username" in order to change the password successfully.

                        So, i tweaked the code of each asp page until they worked like i wanted them to.
                        I used code like this:

                        Code:
                        <td>
                        <input type="hidden" name="domain" value="DOMAINHERE" size="20"></td>
                        </tr>
                        or sometimes needed to force the "domain" into the text of the page like this:

                        Code:
                        <tr>
                        <td><%=L_Account_Text%></td>
                        <td><input type="text" name="acct" value="DOMAINHERE\<%=Server.HTMLEncode(Request.ServerVariables("REMOTE_USER"))%>"></td>
                        </tr>
                        I'd like to post all of my troubleshoot/findings on this forum.. should i use this post, or post a new one?
