  • Another 'Send As ' problem (Distribution Groups)

Very simply put - I can Send As a distribution group by clicking on the From button and selecting the distribution group from the GAL (Sales).

However, if I type in manually the address of the distribution group ([email protected]) in the From field I cannot send getting the usual

    Code:
Your message did not reach some or all of the intended recipients.

         Subject: Test
         Sent: 14/05/2009 10:41

The following recipient(s) cannot be reached:

         TargetAddress on 14/05/2009 10:41
You do not have permission to send to this recipient. For assistance, contact your system administrator.
               MSEXCH:MSExchangeIS:/DC=local/DC=domain:DOMAIN-SBS1
Where do I go / what do I do from here?

    Thanks in advance

I believe you can only "send as" a mail enabled security group not a distribution group. Is this email address the primary one for the group? Does it work if you setup a new profile on a new machine (just to get rid of any caching etc)?
    cheers

      Thanks for replying Andy,

I've double checked and Sales is only a distribution group, not a security group and yes [email protected] is the primary email address for that group.

I will try setting up a new profile on a new machine (which conveniently I am doing today!) but is there any other information I can give you to help track it down in the meantime?

      Thanks again

Hmm Can you see the permissions on that group for send as?
        cheers

I'm sorry if I have misunderstood.

Yes, I can see the properties of the group. The only people with Send As permissions are :

          Account Operators
          Domain Admins
          Administrators
          System
          Group Members (listed by name)
          Enterprise Admins (greyed)

          Is that what you meant?
