  • Remove dead Exchange Server

I need to remove an exchange server from the org / AD that failed and will not be coming back online. I've verified that the only role the server was playing was that it was a front end server. There were no folders, free / busy, oab, connectors etc on the server and it has been removed from DNS for routing of owa traffic.

What is the recommended / safest way to remove the server from the org?

    Thanks in advance,

    Leah

You can follow this articele: http://support.microsoft.com/kb/833396

Note that in your case you should only perform the steps related to ESM and AD.

Yea I saw that article, but wanted to make sure that those were the only steps I needed to take.

      Thanks!

AFAIK, yes. since the server won't be coming online anymore you can ignore the server specific instructions and focus on cleaning up EMS and AD.
