  • Whether RUS creates same email address for two users?

    Brief

For mutliple AD domain & Exchange2003. Is it possible to have same SMTP address if Given Name/Last name are same.

Scenario:- There was a user Peter Bell, whose smtp address was [email protected]. One more user joined with name peter Bel , whose email address created was [email protected]

Later Account operator changes last name of petel bel to Peter bell.

Query:- Whether RUS in Exchange2003 will create [email protected] email adress for both user?

AFAIK, no. Only one object can "posess" an email address, meaning a particular email address has to be unique in that it is stamped on only one object. It's not possible for two objects to have the same email address.

Is their any remote possibility of having two smtp address? May be due to AD replication delay or mutliple RUS per Domain etc.

Moved to the Exchange 2003 forum.

If you have two users with the same name, then one of them will get 2 in their email address.
