  • Exchange 2003 SMTP Filtering Order

I've always been a little confused on the order of filtering on the SMTP server in Exchange 2003 (connection filter, recipient filter, IMF, etc.). Can someone answer two questions:

    1. What is the filtering order?
    2. Will a connection or email that is filtered show up in the SMTP log?

I believe it is Connection, Recipient, IMF.
All three should show in the SMTP log because a connection has been made.
Furthermore IMF should also show in Message Tracking for the Delete option, but not for the reject option.

    Simon.
