NTBACKUP - Can not see remote store

  • NTBACKUP - Can not see remote store

    I have followed the instruction on article http://www.petri.com/backup_exchange...nge_server.htm

    and I don't have a Remote Store option in my tools puldown menu.
    can you help.

    I have one exchange server 2003sp1 installed on Windows 2003
    and I am trying to back it up with NTBACKUP.EXE on a Windows XPsp2

    The path to my dll file is c:\Exchsrvr\bin\ESEBCLI2.DLL and I don't have the system tools insalled and I am using my Administrator account.

    Paul, did you register the DLL? Did you follow the article exactly as written?

      I believe I did.
      If by registering it you mean did I correctly add the registry entry, I did. see attached graphic.

        To register the DLL run

        REGSVR32 "c:\Exchsrvr\bin\ESEBCLI2.DLL"

        Creating a reg key will not register the DLL.

          this was not part of the instructions nor did this work for me

          Regsvr32 reports:

          c:\Exchsrvr\bin\ESEBCLI2.DLL was loaded, but the DllRegisterServer entry point was not found.
          c:\Exchsrvr\bin\ESEBCLI2.DLL does not appear to be a .Dll or .OCX file.

            Backing it up via ntbackup from XP?
            maybe a silly thought, but couldn't that be the problem?
            wat if you try it from a server os?

              Hmmm... Perhaps you could try to install the Exchange System Manager tools on the XP computer? That will upgrade your NTBACKUP and allow you to backup the remote store.

                I am Having the exact same problem.
                Exchnage Serever is Windows 2003 SP1 Exchange 2003 SP2
                MEdia Server is Windows 2003 SP1 , Exchnage server manager installed.
                the registry had the value for esebncli2.dll
                If I try to register it using regsvr32 I got
                "Dll loaded, but not the dllregisterserver entry point was not found.
                Opening NTBackup and then selecting the remote storage I can manually selectthe exchnage server and see the store but not brwosing to it.
                I can even Backup the information Store.
                But Thre poblem is how do I restore the information store the restore does not havethe option of remote store and the browse does not detect the exchange server.
                Manuall will result an error, this is not an exchnage server.

                anything I am missing
