  • A question on OWA

I have OWA server(exchange 2003 SP2) in my organization. I can see that all exchange related services in stopped state except WWW and IISADMIN. OWA access(http://server/exchange) is working fine. I am just wondering how OWA is working without any of the Exchange services in started state?

Is this expected? If yes, from where it will get the information?

    Thanks,
    Sitaram

    Re: A question on OWA

This must be a front-end server.

FE's don't need any exchange services as all it is doing is proxying the request to the backend server. If it was handling mail flow you would need to have the Information store on and the mailbox store mounted but other than that all it needs is the exprox.dll to be loaded (and not davx.dll )
