  • Undeliverable e-mails

    Hello,
I have a very weird problem. Some of the e-mails from the outside are not getting delivered. For example I have a Dell vendor who is saying every e-mail he send to me comes back either undeliverable or delayed. Just a few minutes ago I got a call from another vendor who is saying the samething. He send 2 e-mails and they both come back as undelivrible. The message they get is:

The e-mail system was unable to deliver the message, but did not report a specific reason. Check the address and try again. If it still fails, contact your system administrator. < mtasac2.net.dev.local #5.0.0 smtp; 5.4.7 - Delivery expired (message too old) '[Errno 0] Error' (delivery attempts: 0)

I did a test by e-mailing my self from 3-4 different outside e-mails accounts and it works fine. I got the e-mails. Any ideas where the problem might be ?

    Thanks

    Re: Undeliverable e-mails

    Hi,

Seems like it's an intermittent problem. Now intermittent problem takes time to get resolved. So be patient.

This is what you need to do isolate first if the problem is with you exchange server or remote server sending you an email

Turn on message Tracking. Exchange Server object > Properties > Enable msg tracking and subject tracking

Go to the properties of the Default SMTP VS and enable NCSA logging.

Now tell the dell ppl to send you an email.

Now if the if the email is not delivered on time then check the ncsa logs.
    Start > Run > Logfiles > smtpsvc1 > ncxxxxxx.log

Search for the user to who the email is being send. it will be the rcpt to: section
or search for the user email address from whom the email is originating. i.e. mail from: section

Check for this for now, will supply rest of the stuff later if required.
    Thanks & Regards

      Re: Undeliverable e-mails

      Thank you for your advice.
I did found that log files but whatever is in it make no sence to me. There are a few lines in there (with the sender name) but I don;t know how to read what says next to them.
What am I looking for ?
      Thanks

        Re: Undeliverable e-mails

        Here is the deal

        Upload the NCSA log files,

        Sending domain email address
        receiver's email address

        your exchange server IPconfig /all

Email routing for example internet -> Firewall -> Exchange server like this.

An email header of any email that you have received on your exchange server

Send me this. I will find out what is going on and update you.
        Thanks & Regards

          Re: Undeliverable e-mails

Here is the bounced back e-mail that people get when they try to e-mail me

TLS connect failed; connected to: xx.xxx.xx.xxx
I'm not going to try again; this message has been in the queue too long

These people have been sedning e-mails forever and all of a saden it stoped working.

You have enabled TLS on the SMTP virtual server. You need to turn it off.
