what is the smart host entry
    and
If you have specified smart host on default smtp virtual server of both servers. Then remove it and restart the smtp service.

If the smart host is meant for sending email outbound then create an smtp connector with the smart host there.

    Then Check
    Thanks & Regards

      Hi,

Thanks for the suggestion. We had tried creating SMTP connector last time but old server gets crashed. Is there any way to achieve this?

Re: second Exchange Server in first administrative group

An SMTP connector should not crash the server as it is an Org setting. Not specific to a server. Therefore if you have a smart host set on the SMTP virtual server it MUST be removed and placed on an SMTP Connector.

Re: second Exchange Server in first administrative group

          Hello Mr. Simon,

I really appreciate your advice in this regard, Let me brief you my problem and solution i think of and advice is I'm on right track
          Issue:-
          1. We had installed second exchnage server in first administrative group.
          2. Old Server has smart host configured to my gateway device.
          3. new server also been configured with same smart host i.e. my gateway device.
          4. New server can send mail to Old server and outside the company through smart host. We cam also transfer mailboxes from one server to another server.
          5. However Old server can not send mail to new server. all mails are getting queued up.

          Solution (as per knowledge):-
          1. we would create a SMTP connector in which we would add both servers and route mail to our Smart host IP (Gateway device).
          2. Remove smart host from both server.

Is this okay? or there is some other issue which is not allowing mails from old server to new server.

Re: second Exchange Server in first administrative group

While you have a smart host on the SMTP virtual server, any other cause of problems with message flow between the servers is unknown.

You must remove the smart host and setup the SMTP connectors. After doing so, you can then check to see if message flow is working. If it is not, then something else is blocking the message.
Message track can help, it will show what Exchange did with the message. The queues may also show the status of the message if they are not being delivered.
