  • Reset Exchange 2003 System Folders

    Hi,

Seems to be my posting month this month!
I've been informed by Microsoft that I need to reset my System Folders as per KB822444 which is all well and good apart from the fact I have around 30 servers from Asia to America. I can however schedule the required IS restart and am ready with the updatefb file to republish free/busy info.
My question is, has anyone done this, did you have any problems and if you did what were they/would you do anything differently.
I believe you cannot restore from backup the public folder DB so this would leave me with a DR restoration and then copying the data back (probably through PST files) basically a nightmare.

    Thoughts?
    cheers
    Andy

Out of interest, why do you need to reset your system folders anyway?

Done it a few times and it was fine. The only thing that caused a problem was waiting for the free/busy information to populate. I forced it by asking everyone to create a dummy calendar entry and then delete it. That forced free/busy to publish.

Sembee - I know that doesn't come with warranty but it does make me feel slightly better! Thanks. I was going to use the updatefb to create the calendar items due to the large amount of users, it seems a fairly straightforward script, have you used it as well?

gforceindustries - Our main site folder server has a corrupt PF store. I ran through the defrag, eseutil and isinteg tools but still have hard errors. The corruption has replicated around all servers. MS believe this is the only fix.
