  • Exchange 2003 - Email return unknown reciepient

    I am having a issue that I cannot figure out. I send a email to a user with a gmail account via my exchange server and I receive a sysadmin response back saying the followingl;
    The e-mail account does not exist at the organization this message was sent to. Check the e-mail address, or contact the recipient directly to find out the correct address.
    But I can send the same user a email from a email account I have outside of the exchange server and they receive it just fine. Another test I performed is from my exchange server I sent myself a email to my gmail account and it goes thru just fine. I can even log onto my gemail account and respond and recieve it back just fine.
    Any suggestions would be helpful I am at a dead end on this.

    Does message tracking show what happens to the email?

    It could almost look like you had setup gmail as an internal domain as that error looks like an Exchange error.

      But it works fine when I email to my account at Gmail via my exchange server. This all started when we upgraded out T-1 to the flex T-1.

        If you partially type in the email address does it resolve internally?

        The message tracking Q as well?
        cheers
