  • Exchange disconnecting through the VPN

I'm having problems with computers connected to the exchange 2003 thru a VPN S2S. The outlook (2003-2007) always warn disconnect- reconnect, is something like a timeout, but the client site is only 10-14ms far. In the server logs I found these clients exceding the max amount of 32 sessions.

How can I solve these problem?

32 sessions errors can mean the traffic is being dropped.
First thing I would suggest is ensure that the network drivers are up to date. If they are not dated 2008 then they are not the latest.

Just to add to this make sure you check on the DCs as well as the Exchange server.

Yes! Even reboot the machine was not requested!

Updating the drivers fixed the problem?

If the problem in not fixed you can check this out (if your server is running win 2003 sp2), need to issue on the server

Netsh int ip set chimney DISABLED

this command is active for the current session which means if you reboot the server the cmd would not be active anymore.

THis command basically disables check sum off load which happen at the NIC.

the problem was solved only for 30min since the all sessions was closed when I installed the new driver

and the chimney dont help too.

              more ideas?

I would say that the problem is outside of Exchange.

What is the VPN connection? Microsoft or something else? Something is interfering with the connection.
