  • Query Mailboxes using SQL

Hello all. I am wondering if there is a way in querying mailboxes in Exchange 2003 using SQL 2005.

Reason for this is that I need to do a query to ALL mailboxes for specific words, etc.

I have tried Access, which works fine, but it only works on local profile. I cannot find a way in doing a query to the full Mailbox in exchange.

    Windows 2003 R2 SP2
    Exchange SP2

    Thank you for your help

Exchange mailboxes are not stored in SQL Server compatible database format. Exchange uses JET Blue, which is more or less a half-sibling of JET Red, the engine of Access. Access supports local profile file as it has quite similar a structure.

In many situations your request is explicitly denied, as it can cause quite a large problem for user privacy.

You might want to take a look at Exmerge, which can be used to import/export Exchange mailboxes. http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?kbid=265441
