  • SMTP/DNS and Exchange

    Hy guys,

I am experiencing another funny issue. We have created a forward to one of our users in AD to forward to an external source. Everything was working fine but since last week the emails take up to 10 hours to get forwarded.

    Lets draw it :P

Internal email address [email protected] forwards to
External email address [email protected] (and keeps a copy locally)

So if an external email is send from anybody except mario.com then the local mailbox receives the email but the forwarded email stays in the SMTP queue for hours !!!

If i send an email from [email protected] then it works fine and the forward recieves the email after a min or so.

I think that the SMTP/DNS configuration is all wrong but i can not pin point to is.

I get this on the header when it gets stuck

    Received: from mail2.mario.com ([xxx.xxx.xxx.173] RDNS failed) by mail2.mario.com with Microsoft SMTPSVC(6.0.3790.211); Mon, 18 Apr 2005 14:37:32 +0100

    Any ideas?
    Regards,

    Mario

I don't think there is any PTR / rDNS record for the domain

how that could cause your problem I have no idea about right now, I'm way too tired to think so if this makes no sense later on just disregard it all.
