    Hi there,

    When clients delete items on the mobile device (WM5 with MSFP pack) the items are not synchronized with the exchange server.
    So after synchronizing the device the items are still in my inbox in Outlook (2003 client).

    I use Exchange 2003 (std and ent) with FE-BE.

    On my front end servers i get the following error:

    Event ID 3005 with HTTP status code [409]
    Verify that the exchange server is working correctly.

    I've already tried some possible solutions I found on the net.

    - device hard reboot
    - only sync the Inbox
    -check NON_IPM_SUBTREE/Microsoft-Server-ActiveSync
    - IIS settings (Authentication) on OMA and Microsoft-Server-ActiveSync
    - IIS settings on Back End server
    - move mailbox from one server to another

    Ive also tried it with a Windows Mobile 6 device and it worked fine.

    Does someone have other possible solutions?

    When you tested it with a Windows Mobile 6 device - was that to the same account?
    If not, then I would suspect an account issue, if the problem was server side then the version of Windows Mobile used wouldn't matter.

      I've tried it with my account but also with another one. With both accounts I have the problem on WM5 and both work on WM6.

        Do you have the same problem using a virtual device (link in Sembee's sticky in this forum)?
        Does the BPA run correctly?
        Does it sync when cradled?

          Hi Andy,

          I can't try it with a virtual device.

          We use APN so only registered SIM card work and i can't install the virtual device on a client or server within the organisation.

          So I can only test with Microsoft Outlook, Webmail or ActiveSync through APN.

            The Windows Mobile emulator doesn't require a mobile phone connection.
            As far as I am aware, there is no difference between a Windows Mobile 5 and Windows Mobile 6 device when it comes to operation. However considering how service providers pull the OS apart and cause problems, the issue may well be with the build of Windows Mobile that you are using is the cause of the problem. Using the emulator would confirm that, as that is clean, as supplied by Microsoft.

            The fact that it works with WM6 tends to rule out the problem with the server, and points to the device as the cause of the issue.

              Hi there.

              I've been having the same issue with my mobile 5 devices (Treo 700w). I believe this started happening to us after we migrated to Exchange 2007, however, I don't think this would be the case for everyone. I also don't recall this happening before my migration but I can be wrong. It's only been recently that my users have been complaining about this issue.

              For testing I downloaded the Mobile 6 emulator from Microsoft and ran it on my laptop with my account. When I delete email from the mobile 6 emulater the email gets deleted from my inbox.

              So after looking around on my phone, I found a setting that was set incorrectly. The setting that was set incorrectly was the "Empty deleted items:" which was set to manual. The other options for this setting was "On Connect/Disconnect" and "Immediately".

              I changed the setting to "On Connect/Disconnect" and now when I delete an email on my phone and sync, it deletes it from my inbox.

              To find this setting on the Treo 700w, go to your inbox and do the following:
              - Menu
              - Tools
              - Options
              - Storage Tab

              Here I found the Empty Deleted Items setting.

              I'm not sure which phone you have, but look for a similar setting and see if it helps.
