  • Help: Exchange 2003 synch with OSTs not working - ready to hire help!

    Gang,

This is the part where you say "Welcome to petri.co.il"!

I've referred to this site for years, and finally getting registered and making a post as can't figure this one out myself...

Symptoms are: we have Exchange 2003 that's been running fine for years, no recent changes to that server, but starting yesterday afternoon the Outlook clients (mix of Outlook 2007/XP/2003) all started taking... pretty much "forever" to synch incoming messages from the Exchange Server to the local OST files. Outgoing messages seem to be delivered promptly.

Also, connecting to our Exchange 2003 server via OWA is extremely sluggish - but does show messages are actually being received, just not being replicated down to the OST.

A reboot of the server seems to open a "window of synchronization", wherein for a minute or so everything seems to synchronize, but then we're back to "zero".

That server also has Symantec Endpoint Anti-Virus admin installed on it - have totally turned that off - and we're using "Ninja" anti-SPAM - have unbound the sink. Neither seem to have any effect.

I've checked via Task Manager and there's no runaway process in either CPU or memory usage.

So, pretty much at wits end here - and I'm happy to hire a helpful person to connect up and nail this down - just name your hourly rate and preferred method of payment.

    Regards,

    Kevin E. Stroud

To answer the specific question - rip out all AV and antispam applications. Disabling it is not enough. Then remove any other third party applications - get the product back to the native state. Then reboot the machine.

Check you aren't running low on disk space too.
Is AD working correctly? DCDiag etc?
        cheers

          sembee ended up being right!

Bad as I hated to de-install the anti-SPAM (we're using an add-on product call "Ninja") I did - and then everything started rolling again.

Before reaching that point I had unlinked it - and had defragged the message store with ESEUTIL - but neither of those did the trick.

          Thanks all!
