  • ways to migrate from sbs 2003 to enterprise 2003

    hello,

I've got a project to migrate a sbs2003 server into an enterprise server 2003 without the transition pack!

what is the easiest and with less downtime way to migrate the exchange server?

    thanks in advance!

    Daniel.

No different to a regular migration.
    Therefore swing.

I'm building a test environment which i need to copy the current database from sbs 2003 to a new enterprise 2003, i can't get downtime on the sbs in till i'll manage it to work on the enterprise.

is swing migration is still my best option or there may be another way?

      edit:
after some reading i've learned that i can copy my data base in two ways
      1. copy the db manually and use the /disasterrecovery switch
      2. use exmerge

which way is better? can u suggest any other ways?

      thanks!

I don't do anything DR for migration. If you want to get a copy of it in a lab then you need a copy of the domain. The databases alone will not be enough.

Swing is the only way that I do migrations. I do nothing else, as it is the only technique that does not put the data at risk and can be done with zero downtime.
