  • Send As..."You do not have permission to send to this recipient"...

I am having an issue with the "Send As" permission in Exchange 2k3. I have set up a few users to be able to send email from an additional account, but I keep getting the message: "You do not have permission to send to this recipient". I figured since it happened to the two users I attempted to give the permissions to that there was a configuration step that I was missing. However in order to fully diagnose the issue, I gave myself "Send As" rights and full account access to those additional email accounts that i tried with the other two users. And alas I was able to send from them with no issues, I could send to myself, I could send to internal accounts and I could send to external accounts (Gmail specifically). So I logged back in to our Exchange server and opened up DSA.MSC and pulled up my properties side by side with one of the problem users...they are Identical in every way, same user groups, same permissions, everything. I am banging my head against the wall on this one, Please help, bosses are getting angry....

The first thing to note is that permission changes are not live.
If you make a change to the permission it can be up to two hours before the permissions is active. Therefore if you made the permission change and tested it immediately I wouldn't be surprised if it didn't work.

I have a similar issue to the one you have except I have one user able to send and the other one not able to. The one who can "send as " almost got the changes done instantly. Like you JiantJon I put the 2 side by side and compared the permissions and they are identical.
There is nothing so useless as doing efficiently that which should not be done at all.
