  • 3G Iphone

    Hi,

Am hoping that someone can help me.

I have just got a new 3G iphone in the UK and have previously been a Blackberry and Windows Mobile User. With both Windows Mobile and Blackberry i have been able to Sync my Mails etc to my work Email (MS Exchange 2003).

I am able to log into my emails using my web browser and OWA and that works fine, but i want to sync my iphone to pick up my emails and calendar etc using the iphone interface and not the web browser.

I have used the MS Exchange feature on the phone, and managed to put in all my details etc, and am able to see my folders (without emails) a few seconds afterwards it tells me that my password is wrong, and i get locked out of my user account.

The only thing that i havent tried is putting OWA at the start of address when it asks me for that information. Should i be doing that?

Can anyone help me, as i have been able to use this feature without problem on Blackberry and Windows mobile!

    Many thanks

    Dean

    Please?

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

If i have missed some information then please let me know. I do not have access to the Server. But have had no problem using OWA, Windows Mobile and Blackberry in the past.

    Thanks

      Re: 3G Iphone

If it works on Windows Mobile then the problem is not with the Exchange server.
Apple's implementation of ActiveSync seems to be causing many problems for many people, which doesn't surprise me. Hard reset the device and try again. Don't touch the server if Windows Mobile devices work.

        i.e owa.company etc etc?

          Re: 3G Iphone

Whatever you put in to your Windows Mobile devices you should be putting in to the iPhone. It is no different.
Therefore if your certificate is issued to owa.domain.com then that is what you put in as the host name. No https or /anything

            Re: 3G Iphone

I tried putting in exactly the same details as i would normally do with my Windows Mobile. And the details are reaching the server, and therefore i can see my folders, but am getting the "Incorrect Password" message still.

I have never tried using "OWA.Domain" etc, and not sure if my company support that or not. Although i am able to connect using Outlook Web Access from home, and my iphone browser!

            I give up!!!

Are you not the administrator of the Exchange server?
If not then there is always a chance that the administrators have done something to block the access of unauthorised devices. The iPhone has a number of issues from a network security point of view and many companies are looking to block their use.

No, i am not the administrator, and i know that there has been nothing to block any devices as i can still connect in exactly the same way using my Blackberry. Just not my Iphone!

                Anyone?

With all due respect, you don't know that they haven't put something in place to block your device.

Blackberry works in a very different to way to ActiveSync, it is like comparing a petrol and diesel car. They do the same thing but underneath are different.

You need to speak to the administrators of your Exchange server. If they are blocking access then there is nothing that you can do.

                    Re: 3G Iphone

A Blackberry does not connect to Exchange the same way as an iPhone so that isn't relevant (obviously assuming you mean active-sync and not imap).

I would have a read thought this

EDIT - Too slow for Sembee it seems...

                      Re: 3G Iphone

Could this also be the case then as i am also able to sync to my mails calendar etc using Windows Mobile.

All i wanted is for my Iphone to do what it says it is supposed to do. I have never had a problem syncing any other device.

I think i shall give up.

                        Re: 3G Iphone

I was saying the blackberry is irrelevant here nothing more.
The windows mobile device should work the same way however bear in mind the iPhone is newer so there may be other issues (certificate support etc)
It would be good to speak to your Exchange admin as this is what he is here for assuming these devices are supported by your company.
Did you read the article and posts by other users?
                        cheers

Been there, usually is caused by not using the correct \ between domain and user.
