  • 2x Exchange 2000 - move user-mailbox

    Hello everyone,

I have searched through the forums about moving a user/mailbox from one server to another, the tutorials are great, but unfortunately they all focus on exchange 2003, i have not been able to find a method for 2000, since most of the exmerge tools only work on exchange 2003 and cant get it to run on 2000 unfortunately.

OK so here is the deal.

Server 1: Windows 2000 with exchange server 2000 with 25 users
Server 2: Windows 2000 with exchange server 2000 with 2 users

I would like to move the 2 users from server 2 to server 1.

The main reason for moving the two users is that in terminal services (windows 2003 std with terminal services) when a user logs in and checks outlook, they are ok connecting if they are located on Server 1, but the 2 users on Server 2 are unable to connect. It finds the server and resolves it, but it then gives an error to retry to connect, work offline or cancel because it cannot contact the server.

But if you try pinging the server it can get to it, as well as any other services it works.
Even through citrix it connects to server 2. So not sure what is wrong.
The only solution I can think of is moving those 2 users to Server 1.

All help will be much appreciated.

    Thanks in advanced.

You should be able to open AD users and computers and move the mailbox using the exchange tasks there?

Please read this before you post:

Indeed but I got an error, it outputs the following:

Changed the name and DC in the error to hide info.

OK all fixed now, thanks for the help.
I was trying it from a the AD server (exchange is not installed there), not sure why the error came up though, strange.

Anyways, tried it from where the mailbox resides and that seemed to have worked.

It is strange - you would assume if the option is there, it can be used!
