    All --

I have a Windows 200o SP 4 server running Exchange 2003 SP1 and during my maintenance reboot tonight, i get the following error when the SA tries to start.

    Event Type: Error
    Event Source: Service Control Manager
    Event Category: None
    Event ID: 7001
    Date: 7/23/2008
    Time: 1:01:56 AM
    User: N/A
    Computer: PHMAIL1
The Microsoft Exchange Information Store service depends on the Microsoft Exchange System Attendant service which failed to start because of the following error:

Obviously, it's preventing from the IS from starting.

    I have a single domain with 2 DC's that are GC's.

The NIC settings for exchange are set to: Append primary, append parent, Register this connection..

I have a enough disk space..

    any ideas, i'm currently stuck!!

I'm thinking that the services are not contacting the DC's quick enough -- is there a way for me to make the broadcom nic service to kick it so the network comes up before SA attempts to contact AD ? somehow change the startup priorities.. /

    The error isn't really descriptiive...

for some strange reason the NETLOGON service on this exchange box was set to manual and wasn't started. Took me longer than i would have liked to figure that one out, but i did.
