  • can't find the send mail in exchange 2003 logs.

    hi,
recently I send a email through my exchange 2003 std server, but get a "Delivery Status Notification (Delay)" :
This is an automatically generated Delivery Status Notification.

THIS IS A WARNING MESSAGE ONLY.

YOU DO NOT NEED TO RESEND YOUR MESSAGE.

Delivery to the following recipients has been delayed.

    in attachements has one file:
    Reporting-MTA: dns;mail.xxx.com

    Final-Recipient: rfc822;[email protected]
    Action: delayed
    Status: 4.4.7
    Will-Retry-Until: Thu, 17 Jul 2008 19:38:45 +0200
    X-Display-Name: [email protected]

and I check the exchange maillog in C:\WINDOWS\system32\LogFiles
SMTPSVC1 and SMTPSVC2, I didn't find the entry of that email, Is it the right location to view the logfile ( I found it in Default SMTP virtual server's Property).
    thanks in advance!

Re: can't find the send mail in exchange 2003 logs.

The message will be in the queues, which you can see in ESM, Servers, <your server>, Queues.
The logs may not show anything until the message is actually delivered, and unless you have changed anything the logs may not show enough to track what happened to the message. Message tracking is better suited to that tasks.

Why do you have two SMTP virtual servers?

    Simon.
