  • SMTP not functioning after DisasterRecovery installation

    Hi guys,

    I have installed Exchange on a new machine (Win2003ENTsp2 and Exch2003sp2)
    using http://www.msexchange.org/tutorials/...ry-Switch.html

    after everything is up and running, the guide was followed to the letter, we found that internal emails are working perfectly, but SMTP cannot be reached.
    the service seems started, but there is no reply on port25 on the server, not from an external location, and not even when I do ?telnet localhost 25? locally.

    was there anything missed in the manual maybe?

    please F1

      Have you checked the event viewer and have you checked if the smtp service is running?

        I have to apologise in advance as I know you will have checked this but I have to ask.. Don't suppose the Windows Firewall is blocking it?

        Does netstat show it running too?
        cheers
