  • ActiveSync working via http, but not https

    Hi There,

We have SBS 2003 and have a windows mobile running v5. If we dont choose SSL, it works fine, but as soon as we enable SSL, it we get a 0x85010004 error. However, i can use a brower to go to https://server.name/OMA and login and see the folders/mail etc.

We have a Comodo SSL Cert and the CA is loaded to the mobile device.

Currently all IIS directories, virtual or otherwise, have "Require SSL" unticked.

Im sure that this is just a tick box in the wrong place...

    Can someone assist?

    Simon

    Maybe this?
    http://support.microsoft.com/kb/817379

    also
What type of certificate is it?
When you say you can open a browser to the OMA do you mean IE on a PC or IE on the mobile device itself? Your handset may need the root certificate installing for example.
    cheers

Yea - ive read that KB and gone thru the settings.

As for OMA, i can open this on IE on a PC, on the mobile device browser and it works (e.g. i can see the plain text listing of "Inbox" "Calendar" etc).

My Cert is a The USERTRUST Network cert... and i have installed the Root CA for it to the devices that we are testing. iPhone 3G and Windows Mobile 6.1 professional device.

Still cant get it to work. I have a feeling its Cert related, but i just cant work it out.

EDIT: OH: And the error code on the WinMob device is 0x85010004

Re: ActiveSync working via http, but not https

Ok, if the https works on the device then it isn't a root cert issue.

        Maybe look at this too?

              OK... OK... OK....

Here i am looking for a technical fix for this issue!

First time we have connected mobile devices to our SBS server... hmm, i wonder if we allowed Outlook Mobile Access in the Connect to Internet wizard.......

I think the technical term is: DOH!

              Thanks for your help!!!

Just to be clear on this issue: Activesync and OMA are two different things.

                  Joeqwerty,

Then, what would the solution be to get activesynch working with https?
