  • Messages from mail store are not being delivered to outlook

    Exchange 2003 SP2
    Outlook 2000/2003

    The exchange Message Tracking Center shows item delivered to the store
    but it never arrives in outlook
    message:SMTP Store Driver:Message delivered locally to store to [email protected]

    A specific vendor sends the email weekly

    In the "chain" of T/S i have
    1-checked for rules -none
    2-Turned on reciepts
    3-checked AV- not blocked/caught
    4-checked Spam filters /not blocked
    5-no attachment filtering
    6-no junk mail rules
    7-configured user on "new" pc with outlook 2003
    8-Item not in webmail
    9-other emails from said vendor arrive
    10-Had vendor check dist list/recreate (manually enter users addy)

    All users in the dist. group recieve the email except her.
    (another user in the dist. group can forward to her successfully)

    Question-
    How to I resolve this issue? Is it a case of clients and mail store not syncronizing?

    Re: Messages from mail store are not being delivered to outlook

    If Message Tracking shows the message being delivered to the store, then it arrived in the mailbox. Something happened to it after that.

    Have you actually flushed any rules out using cleanrules? Something happened to the message client side - I always believe message tracking more than I believe users.

      Re: Messages from mail store are not being delivered to outlook

      I appreciate your response

      However

      I have logged on to a seperate PC with the users credentials - setup mail profile
      and had test message sent. Items are delivered to the store-- but not outlook

      The user is using outlook 2000

      The profile that I setup was a 2003... yes I ran cleanrules on the 2003 client
      to no avail.

      Thanks again!

        Re: Messages from mail store are not being delivered to outlook

        Have you checked the delivery options on the Exchange General tab of the user properties for any forwarding?

              Re: Messages from mail store are not being delivered to outlook

              Simple fix, never trust what your end user tells you.

              If message tracking shows delivered then it was delivered and the user did something. Take a look in the user delete item recovery (not deleted folder!)

              To confirm, use telnet and spoof a message to that user from whoever sent the original and see what happens.

              Also, rule outlook out all together and test using OWA.

              Other stuff to look @;
              - Does the user have a blackberry or any kind of mobile device?
              - Is the users AV Config locked and pushed down via policy or set per user?

              Also, cleanrules has issues with some stuff OL2000 does, use MFCMAPI as discribed below and verify if any corrupted rules exist under the user’s mailbox.
              ++++++++++++++++++++++=
              1. Create an Outlook Profile for the affected user's mailbox in Online Mode.
              2. Run MFCmapi.exe.
              4. Select Session -> Logon and Display stores.
              5. Select the outlook profile for the concern user and click OK.
              6. Select Mailbox - right click Open Store.
              7. Expand Root Container.
              8. Expand Top of Information Store.
              9. Right click Inbox and select "Open Associated contents Table"
              10. Under "Message Class" column delete all the entries with display name "IPM.Rule.Message" and “IPM.ExtendedRule.Message”
              11. Close MFCMAPI and re-open Outlook

              ++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++

              But at the end of the day you have to look @ what is being sent "A specific vendor sends the email weekly" Doesn't that sound like SPAM??

              My bet would be on some kinda of filtering @ the client level.
