  • Does WIndows 2003 R2 SP2 x32 have IMAP

    Hey everyone,
I already the server running as an e-mail server with POP3.
However, how do I make it run as IMAP.

    Does Windows 2003 R2 SP2 x32 have IMAP?
Also, is Exchange Server 2003 included with the OS or do I have to purchase it separately?

    Thanks

Exchange is a completely separate product.
I don't believe server 2003 has pop3 either so I suspect you may have another bit of software running also.
    cheers

Windows without Exchange only has POP3 and SMTP. No IMAP support. If you want IMAP you will need to purchase a mail server.

AndyJG247 don't scare me like that ....I'm a noob; the last thing I need is more confusion.

Great, all this money for Windows Server 2003 and it doesn't even have a decent mail server.

Well don't blame Microsoft. Windows Server 2003 is not marketed as an email server. It seems that the blame should be on you for purchasing the wrong thing. If I want to buy a car I don't go to the bicycle shop. Likewise, if you need an email server, then buy one that is made and marketed for that purpose. Sorry if I seem rude but I get tired of hearing people blame Microsoft for the decline of Western civilization. If you don't like their products then don't use them, it's as simple as that.
