  • emails not showing up

Hi I have exchange 2003 running on server 2003 and I am having in house emails just not show up to the recipient and no one on either end is getting an error message/ mailer demon.

I have done the following in exchange > global settings > message delivery > properties

unchecked filter messages with blank sender
gateway blocking config changed to blocking messages = no action

I can't seem to see a pattern with the emails, ones with attachments are more often not to show up.

    Re: emails not showing up

If it is internal messages that are not showing up - what does message tracking show? Does it show the messages being delivered?

If you don't have message tracking enabled then turn it on - it will show you what Exchange is doing with the messages.

Thanks this helped a lot. I opened message tracking center and found the email but according to the log it was sent.

SMTP: message delivered locally to XXX
SMTP: Store Driver: message delivered locally to store xxx

my boss says he didn't get it, I checked his spam and regular folders with no success.

As a side note I couldn't see subjects or look at the email.

(also when I tried to enable message tracking by properties on the server, the general tab didn't have the button, but I am in mixed mode for some reason, I don't have a 2000 exchange server but I do have a 2000 DC)

        Re: emails not showing up

I believe message tracking more than I believe the user. Therefore if Message Tracking shows the message as delivered then it was delivered. Something happened to it when it got the client. Rule, spam filter, AV, something like that.

Message tracking doesn't log subjects unless you tell it to on the configuration settings of the server - nor does it allow you read the actual messages. It just logs what Exchange does with the messages.

The fact that you are in mixed mode does not restrict your use of Message Tracking and its options.
