  • Auth Login Command

I am running Exchange 2003, and am having an issue with sending mail automatically generated from a Java application. I have verified that the credentials i input into the Java app are correct. The error that it's giving back is: 504 5.7.4 Unrecognized authentication type.

After trying many different things with the software company, they today said it sounds like the SMTP server doesn't support the Auth Login command. I tried this command on the server via telnet, and when I type it in there, it returns the same "504 5.7.4 Unrecognized authentication type" error.

Our network is pretty straighforward, Win2k3 domain, Exchange 2k3. Nothing fancy.

I've been fighting with this for weeks, any help would be very much appreciated.

SMTP not required any authanication,But you need to authincate anynymous access on your smtp server i mean on your exchnage server smtp virtual server or you have to allow your java(where you have the apllication )on your smtpvirtual server.

    Good luck
